Tasmania – based member:

Jessica Montero, Project Administrator  | COVA Group

3 Likes: Animals. Yoga near the sea. Travel to spectacular. views

3 Dislikes: Decaffeinated coffee. Animal cruelty. Awkward silences.

What do you love most about your current job?I love the opportunity of interaction and connection with people from different backgrounds and expertise and the opportunity to integrate their ideas and knowledge in different processes and procedures to make everyone’s work and life easier and enjoyable.

A recent career highlight: The implementation of a system relating to infield observations and assessments linked to an extensive fit for purpose analysis of the Business and its work practices considering factors such as the project scope and life cycle, continuous improvement, and strategic methods. This project allowed me to understand the critical success factors involved such as the speed delivery, quality standards for our internal and external stakeholders, the transition between information to a quantifiable outcome and my role as a facilitator of information for different actors in the chain.

South Australia – based member:

Natasha Ugrinic, Business Development Manager | Brickworks Building Products

3 Likes: unexpected pleasures, for example I have recently taken up golf and a bit obsessed with it. Laughter, without a doubt the best medicine. My family with includes my 11-month-old Golden Retriever – Legend and my husband Mike (this is a love…but I like them most of the time).

3 Dislikes: Waste in its many forms, be it talent, resources, or the environment. The challenges covid has presented – which has meant form me not seeing my beloved family and friends. Paying for yucky food at “quality” restaurants.

What do you love most about your current job? During these challenging times what I’ve most loved is the opportunity to get together with our clients and a team to collaborate; be that for a project meeting, a new product initiative, a fundraising or academic event or a simple coffee.

A recent career highlight: Recently after many years of helping clients, friends and colleagues I entered professional awards and decide to nominate myself.  After doing so I reached out to 3 industry “legends” and requested that they consider providing a testimonial of working with me to support my award nomination.  The letters they provided were effusive (I intend to frame them:).  Reading them made me feel like a Rockstar.  The award is yet to be decided upon, however for me the simple act of entering has reaffirmed I have been doing some work I should feel proud of and reinvigorated me to continue along my path.

Jessica Chesser, National Operations Manager | Building Services Engineers (BSE)

3 Likes: Books. Sunshine. Wine.

3 Dislikes: Border closures and not being able to travel. Rude and inconsiderate people. Disorganisation.

What do you love most about your current job? The incredible people at BSE, their adaptability, resilience and commitment to fun!

A recent career highlight: Compliance audits for ISO9001/45001 with incredible feedback: no non-conformances raised and “gold standard” systems (I promise it’s more exciting than it sounds).

New South Wales – based member:

Michelle Hall, Contracts Manager | Buildcorp Group Pty Ltd

3 Likes: Dragon boating. Vitamin Sea. Continued learning and growth.

3 Dislikes: Umbrella etiquette. Animal cruelty. Dishonesty.

What do you love most about your current job? Working on award winning projects, projects that are designed to Greenstar/sustainability standards, and the opportunity to work on a diverse and at times complex range of projects

A recent career highlight: Completing 73 Miller St Project – designed to 5 Star Green Star and 5 Star NABERS energy standards.  And currently undertaking a Graduate Certificate in Climate Change Adaptation.

Petrunda Christofis, Design Director | PMG Group

3 Likes: Being an (embarrassing) soccer mum. Watching trashy TV to unwind from a big day. A good cheese platter.

3 Dislikes: Early morning starts. Bad coffee. Home schooling.

What do you love most about your current job? My colleagues. I work with a great bunch of people who always seem to motivate & inspire me to be better & push harder. We all leave our egos at the door, we work hard & always have each other’s backs. Most importantly we know when to have a laugh & just enjoy the work we do.

A recent career highlight: Contributing to the expansion of PMG Group in opening its newest office in Brisbane, during Covid, is definitely a career highlight. Building a superstar local team from scratch, understanding & recognising the unique traits of the Brisbane market and working out how we can add the best value to the Design & Construct industry in QLD has not only taught me so much about business & people, but also has allowed me to see that I can contribute to a business in greater ways than I once may have imagined.

Victoria – based member:

Jo Clarke, Architectural Colour Specifier | Haymes Paint

3 Likes: Obviously my 2 kids come first. Catching up with family and friends. Hiking, especially in NZ when I can.

3 Dislikes: Dishonesty. Bullies. Inequality.

What do you love most about your current job? I love the diversity of my work.  I work with a large range of Industry stakeholders from Builders to Architects and Interior Designers to Commercial Painters all around Australia.

A recent career highlight: The most recent was a couple of weeks ago where I was sent up in a 60m boom into the dome of the Royal Exhibition Building in Carlton, to match the paint colours for some restoration work.  Scary and exhilarating at the same time. What I love most is knowing that now there is Haymes paint on such a beautiful and iconic building.

Margot Vuillier, Cadet Project Coordinator | Kapitol Group

3 Likes: Aperol Spritz in Summer. Red Wine in Winter. Meditation.

3 Dislikes: My cat when he’s in an angry mood. Boredom. The printer running out of ink.

Who has been your biggest influence and why? My family and friends! They have all taught me that life can be a challenge but it’s always important to have a good laugh.

A recent career highlight: Joining the Kapitol Group team as a cadet and only after 3 months, I have worked on a residential project and now, I am helping out with project coordinating the construction of a school gymnasium.

Kirsten Zink, Architect | TONIC Architecture + Design
