Queensland – based members:

Jenna Cottis, Senior Interior Designer  | Gray Puksand 

3 Likes: Snacks, Wine and pub cover bands 

3 Dislikes: Traffic, bad drivers and people eating loudly. 

How has COVID impacted your career / job? Unfortunately, like a lot of us I lost my job yet gained one through my amazing network of contacts. By staying positive and looking forward I used my ‘disadvantage’ and made it an advantage to make a career move that will expand my skill set and push me out of my comfort zone. 

A recent career highlight: Runaway Bay Shopping Centre refurbishment. Stage One is open and Stage Two is coming soon.

Melanie Davidson , Senior Project Consultant  | Living Edge

3 Dislikes: Unproductive days, negative vibes and hangovers

How has COVID impacted your career / job? It has forced us to rethink traditional workplace design resulting in inspired new design concepts and beautiful spaces

A recent career highlight: Joining the Living Edge Brisbane team

Victoria – based members:

3 Likes: My morning coffee, Beach walks/sunsets, Clear blue skies and temperatures above 25 degrees!  

3 Dislikes: People driving under the speed limit, A messy home, and work desk, Being late or not cancelling a meeting when it’s not going ahead 

How has COVID impacted your career / job? I am very grateful and lucky that I have been able to keep working during COVID and its lockdowns.  

A recent career highlight: I have been able to start a new job during the current COVID lockdown and I am so excited for a few very exciting upcoming projects!

3 Dislikes: Negativity, The Cold, Having no chocolate in the house!

How has COVID impacted your career / job? All work with minimal play can seem deflating at times however very grateful to continue working considering the current climate

A recent career highlight: Acknowledgement in my current role and in return being provided the opportunity to mentor a building cadet

New South Wales – based members:

Mishelle Yam, Senior Project Manager | TCubed Consulting

3 Likes: Ocean Swimming, Good Wine and Geeking out over the latest ‘save the planet’ technology.

3 Dislikes: When things are out of alignment or not straight, Animal Cruelty and Food Wastage.

How has COVID impacted your career / job? Construction was and is still essential. In the last 18 months, we have been Business As Usual even though there was a pause on Construction. More desk time, less site time!!

A recent career highlight: I have been able to start a new job during the current COVID lockdown and I am so excited for a few very exciting upcoming projects!  completed my part-time MBA while working full time.

3 Likes: Summer days poolside preferably with a cocktail, People you can have a laugh with, Art – I need more wall space!

3 Dislikes: Rude people, Being cold, Lockdowns – missing my family!

How has COVID impacted your career / job? It’s probably the most interesting time to be a workplace designer. The future of work is evolving, and we have the chance to influence what that means.

A recent career highlight: Completing the 9,600sqm fitout for Aware Super, it was one of the most enjoyable project experiences so far.
