Thoughts on a year of firsts
Our warmest welcome to you…
So far, it’s been a year of firsts – Althea welcomed baby Hunter, Erin got engaged, many of us commenced working from home, and now, we’re writing our debut Newsletter. Feels like a rollercoaster when you put it all together, huh? It’s kind of strange, yet comforting, nervously preparing for a newsletter mail-out, compared to nervously preparing for the introduction of guest speakers – but here we are.
It’s been a scary time to be an event-based organisation, so we are certainly grateful to be able to say we are here. We might be socially distancing in a physical way, but we are doing our best to stay connected with each other and all of you. Our fortnightly WIDAC At Home workshop series, featuring a Dance class and Personal Finance have been a great start.
We’re gearing up to bring you weekly content, kicking off with our 3-part Wellness series, followed by a live Cooking class and hopefully, a monthly Book Club.
While we’re still working out how to deliver a panel discussion online, it’s on the cards. On instagram, you may have noticed our committee sharing snippets of their day or a curation of small businesses and media platforms to keep in mind. We plan to keep doing this for the foreseeable future.
We’re also using this time to conquer big things that seem impossible to prioritise. For us, that’s designing and building a new website. It’s super exciting, but boy, are we out of our depth! To be honest, we weren’t surprised when it crashed a couple of months ago… Maybe this time is a sign from the universe to focus on the foundations of what is important, both as a business and as a person, to move forward.
For now, we’ll leave it there. We look forward to seeing you online soon.
